A philological study on poisoning of Cuscutae Semen(도絲子)

Abstract

|
Cuscutae Semen is in use in Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Cuscutae Semen for nourishing kidney-yang(보신양(補腎陽)), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Cuscutae Semen. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Generally, Cuscutae Semen does not have toxicity, but if it lives upon poisonous plants, it has toxicity. 2. In order to prevent against poisoning of Cuscutae Semen, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes. And we should not use Cuscutae Semen which lives upon poisonous plants.
